Going East trailer
Selected for entry to the KMF International Film Competition, 20-23 November 2014.
Every year, thousands of people visit Kendal Mountain Festival to see film-makers, adventurers and lecturers from around the world. Here on BMC TV, we’re showcasing a flavour of the films submitted.
This is a film about a young family and one of their biggest adventures. In the spring of 2013, Katrin and Lars Schneider, adventure sports photographers from Hamburg, Germany, flew to California with their eight-months old son Fietje, bought a 1971 VW Westfalia camper van and started a road trip through the US Southwest.
The three of them travelled for two months, drove their van around 5.500 kilometers and explored the beautiful nature of the Southwest. They went from California to Nevada and Utah and back to California via Arizona.
Along the way they visited many of the beautiful State and National Parks like Death Valley, Joshua Tree, Valley of Fire, Bryce, Zion and the Grand Canyon. They experienced family life on the road and the happiness of life without luxury but with pure freedom. All Katrin, Lars and Fietje needed for these 60 days of exploring easily fit into their small bus.
It wasn't always an easy journey but a beautiful experience they'll never forget.
